Kat (they/them) identifies as a nonbinary queer disabled white lesbian. Kat is passionate about creating a safe and affirming space for all LGBTQIA+ folks to feel seen, heard, and understood. They want to uplift queer, trans, and gender nonconforming people to their most authentic potential.
They believe in everyone’s unique journey and there is no “behind” in life having started college themself at 30. Kat is a first-generation college student who grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. They hold a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University, focusing on wildlife science, and a Master of Social Work from Boston University. They are actively working to dismantle white supremacy culture by practicing antiracism and unlearning social conditioning every day. They are married to a military member and understand the difficulties for queer folks in the military.
They believe that the personal is political and have a background in community organizing and political activism through a macro social work lens. They believe in community care and that healing is not done in isolation. Kat wants to collaborate in the therapy practice as they believe you are the expert in your lived experience, and they can utilize their power and privilege of institutionalized knowledge for the therapy participants’ benefit. They believe in self-exploration and pushing themselves and their participants to their growth edge, approaching their practice with a sense of curiosity and collaboration.
Kat is committed to participants’ empowerment and honored to join your journey of self-discovery. They want to help their participants explore what they can do in their sphere of influence in these chaotic times..
